Omnia Education Partnerships Ltd. (OEP) and the Somali National University have signed a memorandum of understanding on developing vocational education and training (VET) in Somalia. The collaboration aims at building VET capacity and developing sustainable high-quality VET programs thus improving employment opportunities of the Somali youth.

The program draws on the best Finnish VET expertise. The purpose is to train qualified vocational teachers and design relevant curricula and study programs for vocational education in Somalia. The trained teachers will then continue training vocational teachers in Somalia. This way they can contribute to the development of Somali education and society.

Both OEP and the Somali National University share the same goal and have strong faith in making a positive change in Somalia through education. “Education – especially vocational education – plays a very important role in developing a nation. We are very pleased to be able to contribute to this process, ” says Sampo Suihko, Chairman of the Board, Omnia Education Partnerships Ltd.
